So you are feeling the Daylight savings blues too! Well here are some tips and tricks I’ve learned that help me and I hope can help you if you’re feeling this way.
1.) Wake up and stay active! Don’t let the darkness hold you down in bed. Staying active and busy is super important.
2.) Try to plan your days! Don’t just waste time on the couch scrolling through your phone. Go out and enjoy your self even if that means just going to a store and walking around or having lunch with a friend. You can even pick up a hobby to stay busy, start a book club or dive into your work.
3.) This one is very important to me, make your environment brighter! Open every blind in your home. Sit near windows and just soak up all the sun you can.
4.) Change up your surroundings! Less natural sunlight in the evening may affect your mood and make you feel groggy and ready to crawl into bed by 6:00 p.m. To help brighten your spirits and feel more energized, fill your home with the things you love. Whether it’s a vase full of fresh flowers or pictures of your loved ones, surrounding yourself with the things that fill you with joy will help lift your spirits.
5.) Talk about it! Don't just bottle up your feelings. Speak to a friend or family member about how you have been feeling and get it out. Staying in contact with your loved ones is very important. I know that for me this helps a lot. Especially for those that live further away from family. I try to call at least one family member or my best friend at least once a day just to talk and get out of my own head.
I hope these tips can help anyone thats going through this difficult time of year. Just know that you are not alone. We can all get through this sucky blues together!
